Hi. What is the technical reason why the package DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP is not available on the Oracle Autonomous Database? What does it do that makes calling it illegal in PL/SQL?

DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP works by the database reaching outwards to the client issuing the request whilst technically possible, is typically going to be big drama with outward going firewalls at the autonomous end, and inward firewalls on your own corporate network.

Our recommendation is to use DBMS_DEBUG instead.

Hi Connor,

You are absolutely right, having the DB to connect to the client is in the 99% of cases not possible because of firewalls etc...

since the DBMS_DEBUG is marked as deprecated, do we have other options to debug without having the DB to establish connection to the client?
