Hi,

As I understand it, Oracle 18c is providing new options for Windows AD integration:

https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/18/dbseg/integrating_mads_with_oracle_database.html#GUID-9739D541-FA9D-422A-95CA-799A4C6F488D

I have 2 questions related to that:

1. Does this new AD integration option support "mixed mode authentication" (connecting with both Oracle users and Windows AD users against the same instance) ?

2. Can the AD integration be configured without having to install additional software on the Windows AD servers ?

1) yes

2) in terms of *software*, my understanding is that we don't need anything on the AD servers. We will create additional objects/groups within the AD structure to support the mechanism

We discussed the entire topic *in depth* in an Office Hours session. This is a long video, but well worth your time if you are heading down this path
