and I heard , the format differs from platform to platform
can you kindly list the format by platform

hh:mm:ss.hh
hours, minutes, seconds, hsecs.
The format no longer varies -- should be the same for all in 8i and up.

Hi Tom, i have tried to change the format in DB 8i standard edition can u help me ?
there is the code:

why isn't the format in hh:mm:ss ???

because you are using sqlplus from version 8.0....
I believe it was 8i that they changed that on windows -- but it is "burnt" into sqlplus -- you have no control over it whatsoever. You achieve the same effect -- you are getting a timing in thousands of seconds.
if you are using 8i sqlplus - then maybe it was 9i they changed it -- I forget, it was a while ago anyway. I have no windows machines to test with and see.
