Which version is more better ...Oracle 9i or Oracle 11i

.and what is different between Oracle 10g and Oracle 11i.

and Tom said...

11i is not a database version.

11g is - 11g Release 1 is the current production release, it has before it 10g Release 1 and 2 and 9i Release 2. So, 11g Release 1 is 3 versions after 9i Release 2.

If I were staring a project today, 11g Release 1 would be the database of choice.

Functionality-wise 11g will be better then 9i. (if you have the need for it). However current realease of 11g might have more bugs.

or it might have far fewer - given bugs reported against 9i or 10g are fixed in 11 (current release) and then back ported in general. Meaning, the current release has more fixes than the older releases might have as well.

What it does have is more features that may not have been as field tested in older releases since - well - they did not exist and were not an option to even consider. Meaning, you have more approaches available to you in 11g than in 9i or 10g - and since you have to TEST anyway (something might not work the way you THINK it should work in 9i or 10g just as often as in 11g)...

11.2

Rumors

There were rumors last year that Oracle could have announced 11g R2 at OpenWorld... but IIRC there was no official announcement about it.
