Hello Tom,
We have a requirement like this
• Data is coming from an external system as a csv file. One of the field is > 10,000 bytes.
• Use sql loader to load the file into table.
We are not able to create a table with 10,000 bytes. The db parameter for max_string_size is set to STANDARD. Without changing the setting to EXTENDED is it possible to handle this requirement. Dba’sm are reluctant to change this setting.

Thanks

I'm not sure if you are making a statement or asking a question?

Your options are:

a) change the max_string_size to extended, or
b) load the large field into a clob column

But I would ask your DBA's what show stopping issues they've encountered during their testing of EXTENDED ?
