Hi Tom,
I using Oracle EE 19c in CDB with several PDB.
Sometime i need to restore from RMAN backup of one PDB under different name (kind of cloning) from the original one, permitting at users to search and compare datas between the two (original and old restored).
Currently i doing in two steps, using another CDB "scratch", where i doing restore from backup ,and after from the good one i doing a copy of the PDB restored into the "scratch".
It's work but it's time consuming .

Could you sugest to me a better way ?
Thank you
Guido

To my knowledge the auxiliary instance is still needed as per MOS

Cloning a Pluggable Database from an RMAN Container Database Backup (Doc ID 2042607.1)

but I'll ask around internally and update this answer if I get a simpler option

Hi Connor,
i also opened a SR to the support and no solution, must crossing another CDB+PDB to doing Restore P.I.T (RMAN) and than move/copy PDB.
I feel this like a big limitation of the product :-( i asked an evolution for future releases.

Thank you for your time.
