Hi Tom,
I'm asking about Oracle 19, Linux, Automatic Memory Management and the 4Go memory limit indicated in documentation (
https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/19/admin/managing-memory.html )
"If the total physical memory of a database instance is greater than 4 GB, then you cannot specify the Automatic Memory Management option during the database installation and creation.
Oracle recommends that you use Automatic Shared Memory Management in such environments."
Do you know if i can use AMM after Database creation with more than 4Go memory on Linux system (without hugepage) ?
Regards
Franck

I suppose the obvious question is - if the docs recommend against it, why would you pursue it?
ASMM is a much alternative in my opinion for *all* databases.
I'm not 100% certain but my understanding for the motivation for AMM was embedded databases in devices where you'd never touch the database again, and thus you set and forget.
For everything else, ASMM is the way to go.
