Dear sir

I have noticed, a huge number of trace files are getting generated with large in size like 4000 files in a day with a minimum of zero size and a maximum of 1gb

I have the following values in my parameter file.

sql_trace=false
Trace_enabled=false
-- I have executed the following statements also;
alter session/system set events = ‘10046 trace name context off’;

But the issue is not resolved. Requesting your kind advice.

Trace file can be *anything* (background processes, foreground processes, etc).

You need to have a look *inside* them to see what content they hold.

For example, here on my local laptop

C:\oracle\diag\rdbms\db19\db19\trace>dir | wc -l
1905

So thats 2000 trace files and I've done *no* tracing.

Perhaps post some file names for us and some sample content and we'll take a look

wc- l

could see you got "dir" there - so guess it could be a windows platform.

but, why wc-l doesn't work for us on windows platform
D:\app\Vnameit\product\21c\diag\rdbms\xe\xe\trace>dir | wc -l
'wc' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

I have windows port of many of the unix utilties.

Google for many such options

Use coreutils for wc on windows

FYI:
https://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/coreutils.html
Use Coreutils - GNU core utilities, to get wc and others on Windows.
Hope it helps.

"j" are job queue processes. Every time you run a job, you might get a trace file indicating the job started, but take a look inside it as well. If the job fails, you also get a trace.

Huge number of trace files are getting generated

Subbarao Dasari, March 09, 2022 - 5:08 am UTC

Hi

There is no job running in my instance.

These files are generated huge in number even there is user activity on the database.

Well...there area always jobs in the instance, because the *database* runs them as well

Been a long time since I used MOS

But this might be a case where you want to open a ticket?
