What is the .logmech=LDAP equivalent config parameter in 21c DG4Tera

When connecting to teradata using its native client "DTEQ" (equivalent of "SQLPLUS in Oracle".. we use this .logmech LDAP before ".login dbname/userid, passwd"...

the equivalent in dg4odbc is in "odbc.ini" parameter file there is a parameter "MechanismName=LDAP" .

need equivalent config for dg4tera too

I spoke to the gateway team and got this response

In DG4ODBC, the customer provides the ODBC Driver (Teradata Client Driver) on his own and is fully responsible for configuring it.

In DG4TERA, Oracle provides/embeds a Teradata Client Driver as part of the product, which then talks to the Teradata TTU, which then connects to Teradata.

Our position is that DG4TERA Authentication via LDAP is not supported. If this feature is desired by the customer, then they can file an Enhancement Request.

But note that it might be more complicated than that. Looking at the information available, LDAP Authentication in Teradata is not as simple as changing/passing a single connection parameter. Therefore, this is something that should carefully studied, as it could have security implications, and it is not something we will support unless and until it has been officially vetted and released, because for us, security trumps everything else, as it should.
