Hello Experts,

We are planning to install Oracle 12.2 database server on a Linux CentOS 7.4.

My first question
May I know whether this setting is supported by Oracle? I've already noted that this OS is not listed under the platforms for Oracle database 12.2 in My Oracle support. But for other Oracle software such as Weblogic server, it is clearly mentioned that CentOS 6 & 7 is not supported.

e.g. https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?id=2230523.1

Unfortunately, I don't see such material or any other document in official Oracle support channels which clearly states Linux CentOS is supported/not supported for Oracle 12.2 database server.

My second Quesion
I've found a document in Oracle site resources which provides a mechanism to convert CentOS to Oracle Linux (which is a supported OS by Oracle).

https://linux.oracle.com/switch/centos/

Is this document still valid for later releases of CentOS & Oracle database? If so & if the CentOS 7 is not supported for Oracle Database, I think we can plan for this conversion.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Navinth

You just need to go the Certification tab in MOS

OS_CERTIFICATION_122

Apologies - I totally missed the second part of the question.

I don't think the information has changed, ie, you should still be able to do it - but I'd strongly suggest raising a call with Support to double check
