We are unable to install 18c Expression Edition in Windows 10 it is extracting and in middle, it is start rollback. Finally below the below message.

Below is the message.

The wizard was interrupted before Oracle Database 18c Express Edition could be completely installed.

your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.

Click Finish to exit the wizard.

Depending on how far the installation got, there may be a folder called "cfgtoollogs" under the *target* installation area. If its present, take a look in there for logging information.

But typically an error of "The wizard was interrupted.." meant we could not even get the binaries installed. So check the obvious things - disk space sufficient, restart the machine, admin rights etc. Logs of that are typically found at: %Program Files%\Oracle\Inventory\logs

If all else fails, try posting this on the XE forum

I faced a similar issue and upon seeing your answer it hit me that this probably should be something basic.
SO i tried running the setup.exe directly from within the zip (without un-ziping) and yay.. i have it installed in my system now.. had been trying to install it from past 2 weeks :P

I tried openening the file like you said, without unzipping. But it automatically extracts when I click "setup.exe" file. Is this normal?

Here's my recording of my installation process.

It is sped up a little, but you should be able to follow the same steps.

Installing Oracle DB 18c on Win10

Joe Sweeney, April 19, 2021 - 8:50 pm UTC

I was getting the same error. When I read the original response, my immediate suspicion was permissions issues.

Here's what I did to successfully install:

1. Extract the zip file

2. Right-click on setup.exe

3. Select "Run as administrator"

4. Continue as usual

Yup! Thats my experience too.

run setup.exe and allow access to java

cg, August 16, 2021 - 2:16 am UTC

When you download with java, java install needs to admin. so, run as admin or run the setup.exe normally, it will prompt to allow access , click allow it will go thru.

That is pretty self-explanatory no?

Make sure you uninstall any previous versions you have.
