In this session, we presented and demonstrated the following marquee features of APEX 24.1:
00:00 - Announcements & Updates 06:08 -Generate PDF documents using the natively integrated Document Generator Service - Menno Hoogendijk21:34 - Date Picker Support in Faceted Search and Smart Filters - Ronnie Weiss29:18 - REST Souce Infrastructure: Support Nested JSON responses - Carsten Czarski
Correct, this is only available on OCI. I'm not aware of any plans to offer it on-premises.
Remember the UI for APEX apps is all in the browser, so you can pop up a print dialog, or the user will have to click a button, or use their browser print feature
Yes, please install and review the docgen sample app to learn more
This is a REST Endpoint that you need to stand up on a paid OCI tenancy - but will work from your database.
Document Generator supports dynamic images but that is not yet part of the 24.1 integration. Charts is also something we are looking into for a future release.
The code for our sample apps are available in GitHub: https://github.com/oracle/apex;remember, you can install these sample apps from the APEX Gallery - once you install them, you can go under the hood with APEX Builder and page designer and see how each page is configured
Our APEX API docs should help you through learning how to do this https://apex.oracle.com/api
Please create a new post regarding this on https://apex.oracle.com/forum so that we and other community members can help you
This is a known issue that will be addressed when APEX 24.1.2 patch is deployed to Autonomous Database, tentatively in early August.
XLSX is on the roadmap!
That probably requires some investigation; would you mind raising this as a question on the APEX forum? https://apex.oracle.com/forumPlease also provide some details about your setup, so that we can investigate and diagnose.
You can certainly post such on the Ideas app - if for some reason it doesn't fit, we'll redirect as needed.
With APEX 24.1, you can set up a Document Generator function as a Print Server. You need to provision a document Generator function on OCI to integrate this
absolutely - you can build your query as needed
most anything is possible with APEX - if it can be done on the internet, APEX can do it too :)
It is the same concept - an external Document Generator service with which your APEX environment and apps integrate.
The Sample Document Generator is available in the App Gallery.
Yes, at present, this is limited to PDF. The Document Generator team is working on more formats
Not currently as this is targetted as an OCI feature right now
The user would have to print - via JS, button click, file>print, etc
Yes, that's totally possible. Today I used a similar architecture.

Yes, Excel is on the roadmap. XLSX to XLSX, and XLSX to PDF.
Facets are treated like page items, so you can just build URL syntax to set page items. If that references facets, things should just work
