Hello, I have a question regarding log file switch (checkpoint incomplete) that is caused due to logfile switch while checkpoint is still in old one, question is - can this cause sessions to hang fully for the wait period or it should not be the case? The issue is caused due to improper setup of redolog groups being different size and too small in some.

Yes, this can block sessions.

If the database can't write to the redo log, any changes could be lost => you can't recover them. So anything that needs to write to the redo log may be blocked by this event.

log file waits are not necessarily due to the redo log subsystem
