Hi,

I attempted to deinstall ASMLIB, by following the procedure described on Grid Infrastructure Installation and Upgrade Guide for Linux, "Deinstalling Oracle ASMLIB On Oracle Grid Infrastructure" chapter( https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/19/cwlin/deinstalling-oracle-asmlib-on-oracle-grid-infrastructure.html#GUID-AAC3291D-BEAF-4567-A0A0-CA834C1A73EA )

As there is no grid infrastructure installed yet, so I went to step 3, which says to Stop Oracle ASMLIB using the '/etc/init.d/oracleasm disable' command.

When I ran the above command, I received the message "/etc/init.d/oracleasm is deprecated. Use 'oracleasm configure -d'"

By running "oracleasm configure -d" command, it retuned "Writing Oracle ASM library driver configuration: done"

By checking oracleasm status, it remains the same result before.

How do I know whether the OASMLIB is disabled or not? Can I proceed the step 4 to "Remove the oracleasm library and tools RPMs"?

Please find output details:

Wed Jan 15 17:21 root@xxxxxxxx:~ [0] # /etc/init.d/oracleasm disable
/etc/init.d/oracleasm is deprecated. Use 'oracleasm configure -d'
Wed Jan 15 17:23 root@xxxxxxxx:~ [0] # oracleasm configure -d
Writing Oracle ASM library driver configuration: done
Wed Jan 15 17:24 root@xxxxxxxx:~ [0] # oracleasm status
Checking if ASM is loaded: yes
Checking if /dev/oracleasm is mounted: yes

Hi Connor,

After ran oracleasm configure -d', I issued "oraclasm configure" command, and it showed asmlib is disabled:

Thu Jan 16 15:46 root@pxl1bdhor006:~ [130] # oracleasm configure
ORACLEASM_ENABLED=false <<--- disabled
ORACLEASM_UID=grid
ORACLEASM_GID=asmadmin
ORACLEASM_SCANBOOT=true
ORACLEASM_SCANORDER=""
ORACLEASM_SCANEXCLUDE=""
ORACLEASM_SCAN_DIRECTORIES=""
ORACLEASM_USE_LOGICAL_BLOCK_SIZE="false"

Thanks
