In this session Chris Saxon led an exploration through Oracle SQL that mostly looked at materialized views, with a brief discussion of full outer joins:

refreshing an MV
06:30 - MV refresh options; when to use them
12:50 - fast refresh restrictions; analyzing issues using dbms_mview.explain_mview; updating MV log
27:00 - statement level refresh (12.2)
34:00 - how to do a "double outer" aka full join; adding a running count for duplicate rows with analytics
38:10 - updateable MV alternatives; DIY sharding & other issues of dealing with a large database.
