AskTOM Office Hours offers free, open Q&A sessions with Oracle Database experts. In this session we explored In-Memory External Tables and support for external partitioned tables and hybrid partitioned tables in 21c. Andy Rivenes (@TheInMemoryGuy) and special development guest Roger MacNicol (@RogerMacNicol) reviewed how In-Memory external tables work and showed demos of the three types of In-Memory external tables.

    Roger MacNicol   

    Roger MacNicol is a Software Architect for Oracle's Data & Storage Technology group. he has been working on core database internals for 35 years and at Oracle for 16 years. He has worked on the implementation of Table Scans, Hybrid Columnar Compression, Exadata Smart Scan, Big Data SQL, and Database In-Memory; he is currently working on Persistent Memory support. Before Oracle, he was the architect for Sybase IQ Query Engine - the world's first commercial columnar database and was the first chairman of the TPC-H subcommittee.
