Built-in address geocoding with Oracle technologies
Geocoding is the process of deriving a geographic location from addresses and place names. Addresses and/or place names are commonly the only reference to a location in source datasets. Therefore, geocoding is essential to leverage the power of location-based analysis (i.e., proximity, containment, etc.).
The Oracle Spatial Database platform includes geocoding support. However, reference data acquisition and loading are required.
Fortunately, several Oracle technologies also provide turn-key geocoding leveraging an Oracle-hosted geocoding web service. These include Oracle Spatial Studio, Oracle APEX, and the new SQL API for Oracle Autonomous Database.
