Hello,

ASMM and Huge Pages can work together; however, AMM and Huge Pages can't. It doesn't make sense that we can't use AMM together with Linux Huge Pages. Are able to explain why these two features are incompatible?

Thanks,

John

Its just a current limitation of the implementation.

If have a regular DBA who monitors a database, then I'd say - go with HugePages, because memory will be monitored adjusted by the DBA as needed.

If you've got a database which is set-and-forget and no-one is ever likely to be monitoring it, then maybe opt for AMM and accept that you'll have slight overhead due to not having huge pages.

Huge pages and RAC

Shahrouz, August 23, 2017 - 11:26 am UTC

Hi, due to Oracle Support Huge pages should not be used with RAC. Is it true? What should be the reason?

Can you provide a reference to that ?

Huge Pages and RAC work just fine.

Are you sure you are not referring to *Transparent* Huge pages ? That is a different thing. See MOS note 1557478.1 for details.
