You Asked

Hi,

After migration from on-premise to cloud, for some reason, sys password in our OCI database stop working. Nobody changed the password.

We need to do a Dataguard Association, but sys password is required.

How can we safely change the password?

A simple "alter user identified by" it´s ok, to change the password? Don't need to update inside the wallet?

Thanks

I think dbaascli is recommended for OCI classic.

(see MOS note 2491493.1 )

connect to VM as opc
[root@DBCS opc]# sudo -s
[root@DBCS opc]# dbaascli database changepassword
DBAAS CLI version 18.4.3.1.0
Executing command database changepassword
Enter username whose password change is required: SYS
Enter new password: <NEW_PASSWORD>
Re-enter new password:<NEW_PASSWORD>
Successfully changed the password for user sys
Reconfiguring ORDS Assistant, this might take some time, please take a look at log /var/opt/oracle/log/ORCL/ords/ords.log for progress

Successfully reconfigured ords assistant
[root@DBCS opc]#

SYS ans SYSTEM passwrod change in OCI (NOT OCI-C)

nagaraju, March 20, 2021 - 1:27 pm UTC

Hi,
I want to change SYS and SYSTEM passwrod in OCI (GEN-2) environment. I know how to change in OCI-C. But don't know in OCI (GEN-2). Could you please let me know how can i change these passwrods in GEN-2? I think dbaascli is not there in GEN-2.

Thank you very much..
