Hi Tom,

Need guidance on upgrading skills.

Now that after being extensively workde at database side mainly in PLSQL development for about 8 plus years. Could you please suggest what other technologies or tools a PLSQL developer must add in a skill bucket so as to get good paycheques and strong profile.
I tried getting my hands on shell scripting , Ab initio but I observed job requirement are very less for PLSQL developer.

It will be really helpful if you can suggest on upgrading skills , tools , technologies to attract more jobs. Not getting direction on exactly
" What Next After PLSQL for 8 years"?

I would look into APEX and REST technologies.

Both have strong underpinnings in PLSQL, so they'll let you leverage those existing skills but branch out into some of the more modern demands of database applications.

So its not *replace* your PLSQL skills....it is expand and build upon them.

PLSQL is not going away - it just becomes the core component to more technologies that depend on a good database core.

Maybe less on BI and more on machine learning. That seems to be where the industry is focussed.
