Dear Tom

Can we kill the session which is holding latch cache buffer chain by looking in to the
'select * from V$LATCHHOLDER;' view . If we kill that session What will be the impact to the instance?

I'd be investigating why you want to kill that session.

Anything holding a latch for an excessive amount of time should be perhaps traced and reported to Support before killing it.

Killing a *user* session will roll back any transactions they have open.

Do not kill an oracle background session - your session may terminate.
