The Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program (ACCSP) was established in 1995 as one of five regional Fisheries Information Networks to improve the consistency of temporal and spatial coverage and dataset compatibility for saltwater fish. A primary objective of ACCSP is to standardize and centralize fisheries-dependent data collection and data management along the Atlantic coast. ACCSP is composed of representatives from 23 marine fisheries management agencies coastwide, including the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the three Atlantic coast regional fishery management councils, the 15 Atlantic states, Potomac River Fisheries Commission, D.C. Fisheries and Wildlife Division, NOAA Fisheries, and US Fish and Wildlife Service. 

ACCSP plays a critical role in supporting effective natural resource management through its efforts to standardize and modernize data collection across jurisdictions and to efficiently provide Atlantic coast data to state, regional, and national data systems. This has been achieved by using an evolving series of Oracle databases and tools, such as Forms and APEX, to develop internal systems and provide the Standard Atlantic Fisheries Information System (SAFIS) suite of applications (electronic commercial dealer reporting and commercial, for-hire, and recreational harvester catch reporting). These tools are all provided to our 23 partner agencies, thousands of fish wholesale dealers, and tens of thousands of fishers at no cost to users.
