Hi tom,

In a rac environment with grid infrastructure i am trying to configure acfs. But i am getting following error.

ACFS-9459: ADVM/ACFS is not supported on this OS version: 'unknown'
ACFS-9201: Not Supported

Blogs says i need to apply patch, but oracle document says its compatible.

Acfs drivers wont unload.

sanjiv ranjit, July 16, 2018 - 8:51 am UTC

Hi Tom,

The last issue got fixed. It was bug. Thanks !!

After i installed acfs and 2 node rac, now i am upto upgrading my 11.2.0.4 rac to 12.2.0.1 both grid and database.

Before i started the Universtal installer, i manually tried to stop all the resources 'crsctl stop crs' or 'crsctl stop res -all'
as during root script execution this will be done by installer.

But i am getting issue - Stopping of 'ora.drivers.acfs' on 'rac1' failed. Stopping of 'ora.drivers.acfs' on 'rac2' failed.

When i manually try to stop acfs drivers it gives error : ACFS-9118: oracleacfs.ko driver in use - cannot unload.

When i check processes 'ps -ef | grep acfs' few acfs related processes are seen.

When i kill 'asm_acfs_+ASM2' and 'asm_acfs_+ASM1' and manually stop driver 'acfsload stop -s' it stops.

But crs again revives the killed process.

During installation, this wont go like this. Since, the ora.drivers.acfs will not get unloaded, crs wont stop and the installation wont continue as well.

I tried to dig up with the issue, but no result. All directs towards oracle support but i dont have an account.

What might be the solution to this issue?

You can disable it temporarily

$GRID_HOME/bin/acfsroot disable

But seriously - no support account ?!?!?!

Ya, no support account.

They should give you access - if they *have* support, it costs nothing to add users to it.
