Hi

I wanted to know how does Oracle physical standby database decides how many standby Redo to be used.
As We have a Standby which have multiple Standby Logs but its is only using 2 of them for each thread.

We tried to switch the logs on both the nodes in primary.

Thanks,
Ajeet

They are not "paired" with the production redo logs, even though that seems a natural assumption to make.

They are used solely as required, so as we "consume" a production redo log, we will consume a standby redo log. When we switch redo logs on production, we'll consume a second standby redo log because the first one is (probably) still in active use. But as soon as we've finished using that first standby redo log to apply redo, it will become free for use again.

So unlike "normal" redo logs, we only use them as needed.
