Hi Team,

I am trying to do manual switch over not by using switch over command , this is just for my learning purpose .

if my understanding about the facts are correct , below are the steps :

1. shutdown the primary copy control file and redo log (current)
2. take it to standby site , rename control file and redo log .
3.start standby from those file it will work as primary switch over.

here my struck in situation where datafile name is different in standby and in primary .
so here i need to do switch datafile all or switch database to copy ???

if environment is file system i.e my datafile are placed in filesystem then switch datafile all can help us .
but if it is placed in ASM will it work or it has some different approach ???

You don't take anything over.

And ideally you would not do it manually because thats *why* we created commands like "switchover" in SQL and in the DataGuard broker.

But if you want to (or have to) perform the task manually, the series of steps is written up in good detail in the MAA role transition white paper here
