Hi Tom,

I have followed the instruction provided on the how to download data base for OracleSql developer. I am using Mac, so i was not a able to use XE without linux/Microsoft etc..Therefore I have chosen the 3rd step to download the DeveloperDaysVM201 & VirtulBox.. After downloading it/ a box notice ( VMware Fusion requires administrative privilege to perform one-time setup including copying to the Applications folder. Type your password to allow this...I am not sure what the password and username is? It is not letting me proceed without this. Can you please help me.

Thank you!

I'm not vmware person (or a Mac person), but I found this video:

which should assist.

From what you're saying it seems to be more about OS privileges than the VM itself, so I assume it is just an administrative account on the Max that it is asking for.

Others welcome to lend their expertise to this one via Review.

or use virtualbox

You should be able to use run a vbox image in vmware player an a vmware image in virtualbox

virtualbox is free and pretty small though, so if you don't have the admin privs, try that route.

and i have a step by step 'how to' for getting going with the OTN appliance here https://www.thatjeffsmith.com/archive/2014/02/introducing-the-otn-developer-day-database-12c-virtualbox-image/
