Dear sir

Database 11g- exported to dmp file sizing 20 GB

Then i imported it with imp command as Full=Y and commit=Y, and db got imported successfully with in 5 hours.

Next i imported the same dmp file in oracle 12c

Initialy import went as usually but due to space problem in my orcle installed drive
Error message displayed UNABLE TO EXTEND SEGMENT BY 128 IN TEMP

Without closing import window i altered temporary tablespace by creating a 16 GB tempfile in another drive and dropped the previous temp file.

But after this process import process is taking very very long time, it took 4 days to get imported.

Please inform What may be the reason that it took 4 days and where i went wrong.

Yesterday it took me 15 minutes to drive to the shops.

Then I bought a new car.

Today it took me 10 hours to drive to the shops.

Why?!

By any chance is your answer:

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So can you guess what my answer is to why your import now takes 4 days?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Clearly, something's going wrong if it takes 4 days to import 20Gb. But it could be any number of things.

Help us help you.

We need more details to get to the bottom of this. What exactly is the import session doing? Have you checked using a session browser or tracing it? Is there anything else going on in your database? Are there any other errors in your alert log?

Is this answer out of date? If it is, please let us know via a Comment
