I am somewhat confused about sql developer versions - the latest I have installed from OTN is 4.2 and then I come across - ThatJeffSmith - SQL Developer v17.2 is now Available - Please clarify. Thanks.

17.2 is the latest version. This is to reflect the new release quarterly release schedule. Versions will be numbered: Year.Quarter.Week.

4.2 is the last version "4".

Sql developer worst Tool

A reader, July 14, 2017 - 11:29 am UTC

I hope sql developer team learns from Toad.
It's a terrible user unfriendly tool. But it's free.
Just try to extract user/schema creation ddl for a particular user.
I raised this issue years back and stopped using the tool th erafter.
Rating is for the tool - Not useful

Sorry you feel that way. I've been using it for years now and think it's great.

If you're looking for a way to get the DDL for all the objects in a user, check the Database Export option (Tools -> Database Export). Seems easy enough to me...

Beware - TOAD doesn't always give the right answers.

Only trust in an Oracle product to work properly.
