Hello Oracle Experts,

I am unable to install Oracle 11g on Windows 10 (64 Bit).
Error Encountered : ORA 12631 UserName retrieval failed

Database instance is created but the .DBF files are not created including the control files.

Please note that i do not have direct Admin rights on my office laptop but admin rights are granted through a security level.
In short , not in the "Administrators" group.I am into "ORA_DBA" group.
Also , i log into my laptop through the domain user. (e.g --> ABC\wayne.rooney)

Tried installing :
1. Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) --> http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html

2. Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 for Windows x64 --> http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/database-technologies/express-edition/downloads/index.html

The same setup i have tried on my personal laptop and it worked.Obviously it has the admin rights.

Not included in the admin rights is the issue ?

I can't give a definitive answer, but I've definitely got Oracle 11 and 12 running fine on my Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 laptops.

In all cases, I have admin access on the machine, so its reasonable hypothesis of yours that admin rights is the issue.

Perhaps as a workaround, try using the preconfigured VM machines and run the database in a VM.

you can install

you can install but Two conditions are available
1- The user must be internal
2- Not to be connected to the network or connected to the Internet.
Then you can install the oracle 11g
because oracle used the ip address in host name .
