You Asked

We have an issue during a monthly shutdown of the database in preparation to be refreshed, it hangs due to active calls. We then have to manually kill the sessions.
If possible, will you provide a script that can kill processes prior to a shutdown immediate?
There are multiple databases on this server and we only refresh one monthly.

Thank you very much.

shutdown abort
startup restrict

Prefer not to use shutdown abort

Thank you for the suggestion, however, we prefer not performing a shutdown abort on a regular basis like that. Is there a script to kill active sessions?

Thanks

I prefer that you *do* use shutdown abort.

There you go ... we're even :-)

Seriously...why an objection to shutdown abort ? That's equivalent to saying you have no confidence in the database.
