Hi ,expert.
I want to know i have created a dataguard in 11g.
i start the standby database as below steps:
1)startup mount;
2) alter database recover managed standby database using current logfile disconnect from session;
I shouldn't buy license.
if i execute the sql:
alter databsae open;
should i buy the active dataguard license?

You *dont* need Active DataGuard for real time apply.
You *do* need Active DataGuard if you want to have the database open in read-only mode (eg for reporting) whilst it is applying redo.
You *can* have the standby database open read only *without* an Active Dataguard license, but the recovery must be paused whilst you do so.
