Hi ,expert.

I want to know i have created a dataguard in 11g.
i start the standby database as below steps:

1)startup mount;
2) alter database recover managed standby database using current logfile disconnect from session;

I shouldn't buy license.

if i execute the sql:

You *dont* need Active DataGuard for real time apply.

You *do* need Active DataGuard if you want to have the database open in read-only mode (eg for reporting) whilst it is applying redo.

You *can* have the standby database open read only *without* an Active Dataguard license, but the recovery must be paused whilst you do so.
