I executed a stored procedure in Oracle 11g using utl_stmp that had a loop that was not properly ended. Needless to say, I received thousands of emails. I requested my DBA to kill the session so that I can stop receiving emails. After the session was killed. I am still receiving emails hours later. I would like to know how long will it take for the emails to stop sending to my email address after the session was killed in Oracle? Is it normal for me to still receive emails hours after the session is terminated? Also, is it because I have a backlog of emails in queue that Microsoft Exchange Server has not got to? Thanks.

This is a conversation to have with your DBA and MS exchange admin. They should be able to tell you whether the session is definitely killed and what the mail server backlog is.

But at a guess yes, an infinite loop sending emails probably has flooded your mail server and it's just working through the backlog.
