You Asked

Hello,

I want to know if BASIC compress Algorithm can be used in RMAN backup with 11.2.0.4 and 12.1.0.2 Standard Edition.
Now I´m using 11g but soon I will upgrade to 12c so I need to kown to both version.

I´ve checked the documentation and is very specific about EE+Advanced Compression Option but nothing about standard.

The only certainly fact is:

Basic Compression Option
You can configure the basic compression algorithm, which does not require the Advanced Compression Option, with the following syntax:
Example 6-2 Configuring Basic Compression for Backup
CONFIGURE COMPRESSION ALGORITHM 'BASIC';

But may refer to Enterprise Edition ( with no Advanced Compression Option).

¿ how can I be sure on Std Ed ?

If anyone have the documentation about STD I will apreciate it.

Thanks,

Confirm this with your Account Manager or Support, by interpretation of the licensing guide

http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/DBLIC/editions.htm#DBLIC116

is that any form of compression entails Enterprise Edition, with the more extended compression forms also needing Advanced Compression.

Hope this helps.
