Hi Tom,
I am working as PL\SQL developer, I wants to know the future job opportunities for PL\SQL,else whether I needs to update my skills in some other technology to survive in IT industry?

Kindly do me suggestion.

Oracle Database has a huge install base. This will still be around for a long time. These applications still need enhancing and maintaining. So there's going to be a need for PL/SQL developers for a long time.

That said, if all you know is PL/SQL then yes, you should expand your skills. There are fewer "pure" PL/SQL developer jobs. You'll almost always use this along with other technologies.

So yes, expanding your skill set is a good idea.

If you want to stay more development focused, learn front-end tech such as APEX and JavaScript.

Or you could move towards being a DBA. Learn about administering your database.

The choice depends upon which you prefer.

As always these are global trends. The job market in your specific area may be very different!

There are other options for PL/SQL developers like Oracle Data Integrator(ODI), Big data SQL, Oracle Apps..etc to expand our skills.
