You Asked

Dear Tom,
Can we have different block sizes between active and pasiv databases, when using Active DataGuard?

For example:
Block size of 8K for Active and 64 for pasiv database which is in Read only mode?

If so, what can be concicvences when having different block sizes between active and pasiv database?

Thank you
Ali

I do not believe so. I could not find an explicit remark in the documentation stating it, but since we are copying *files* during the instantiation of the dataguard replica, I can't see how it would be even possible.

Hi team,

I wanted to confirm with you guys, assuming current versions of Oracle, when you do a switchover or failover, be it planned or unplanned, are read-only connections for active dataguard disconnected? Can you use any TAF, FAN etc type features to prevent that if so?

Thank you.

So just to clarify your question:

- you have a primary db (read/write)
- it is supported by an active dataguard (read only)
- you have sessions on both

Now there is a failover event, so

- active gataguard node becomes an read/write primary node

and in that scenario, will the read only sessions stay/resume connection to the database ?
