if we have one tablespace ts1 in that ts1 we have 2 datafiles.. but i use to drop only tablespace drop tablespace ts1; i forgot to drop 2 datafiles now i try to drop that datafiles also but it's not possible what is the reason for that..

and Chris said...

How are you trying to drop the datafiles and what exactly is the error?

Help us help you. Please update this question with this information,

Thanks

======================

If you have *successfully* dropped the tablespaces you can simply remove the files using OS facilities.

Of course, if you didnt drop the tspace correctly, removing the files at OS level will be a bad thing...

But *we cant tell* because you havent provided us with any meaningful information - eg, the commands you ran, the errors you got etc.

Without that....we're just wishing you good luck...

Cheers,
Connor

Hmmm....you ticked a box that said: "I've read the Guidelines for Writing a Great Question"...Let's see how you went:

"If you want us to look at code, make sure that you provide ...scripts."
- nope

"Don't be vague about your error, as in 'My code doesn't work.'"
- nope

"Instead, be specific as possible. "
- nope

"Include any error messages and examples of your desired output if relevant."
- nope

You are right, it was a waste of your time. Just as much as it wasted ours.

Cheers,
Connor

Chris, how DARE you not use your mind reading capabilities and just give poor chinni the answer?

I skipped the psychic class at uni. Clearly that was a mistake ;)

Wasting time

a reader, April 18, 2016 - 1:57 pm UTC

I think Connor provided a correct answer, and a valid proof, to the original question. That being, “Am I wasting your time?”

The test results are clearly repeatable, and sadly, so is the question.

what is the reason

Duke Ganote, April 18, 2016 - 5:05 pm UTC

Chris admits he skipped psychic class at the uni. The rest of us are wondering if chinni skipped far more than that class.

One more for good measure

In addition to Connor's list, you can probably add "don't ask support questions here", which this likely is, given the urgency indicated by the demanding headline.

quite simple

drop user chinni cascade;

;-)

What happened to good manners?

Evan, April 19, 2016 - 11:11 pm UTC

I can't believe what bad manners some people have. There have been a couple times lately where people have been incredibly rude when they asked a question. Whatever happened to good manners and politeness?

It appears manners got de-supported in version 10 :-)

I should state for the record, that the overwhelming majority of people who visit AskTom and ask questions are incredibly polite and positive, which is why Chris and I love doing it.

Cheers,
Connor

Thank you for the clarification.

We probably should have not jumped to the conclusion that we did.

We hope to see you back on AskTom in future.

Thanks,
Connor
