Hi Tom,

Apologies for asking such basic question but I am unable to find answers even after googling on the same. I am trying to configure AWR & ADDM in oracle 11gr2 but it seems impossible. I've done settings as suggested on some oracle docs and did also configure a auto stats job in a window but still it seems impossible to configure AWR & ADDM. please share if there is a link which could help configure and run these tools automatically....step by step from scratch.

would really appreciate your soonest response.
Thanks and regards,
FK

There should be nothing for you to have to do - its enabled by default, as long as statitistic_level is set correctly. From the documentation:

"Gathering database statistics using the AWR is enabled by default and is controlled by the STATISTICS_LEVEL initialization parameter. The STATISTICS_LEVEL parameter should be set to the TYPICAL or ALL to enable statistics gathering by the AWR. The default setting is TYPICAL. Setting STATISTICS_LEVEL to BASIC disables many Oracle Database features, including the AWR, and is not recommended."

If it has been disabled, or is broken in some way see MOS Doc 782974.1 for a step-by-step for recreating AWR.

You must have the Diagnostic pack license for these faciltiies.

Hi Connor,

Thanks for your prompt response; I think then there must be the license limitation in our case.
I can create AWR reports but with extremely limited information. most of the sections of the report comes blank mentioning "No data exists for this section of the report."

Our old DBA was fired for some reasons and he never shared any docs or info with organization before leaving... we couldn't even locate our complete purchase contract with oracle so far so I didn't know where to get licensed products information. I couldn't find any view in oracle dictionary providing said information either. so had to contact you guys.

Thanks anyways....

Yes, we pretty much ship the product with all the facilities available.

I would recommend getting in touch with your Oracle account manager - if there's a mess now, then eventually when you need to get a new product, or decommission an old product etc...it will be tougher to manage.

Might be good to pick "now" as a good starting point, do a review of what you are using, and make sure all the license details etc are in place. Avoids arguments later.

Hope this helps.

DBA_FEATURE_USAGE_STATISTICS will show you what features you've used and potentially should be paying for if it's a licensed option.

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/statviews_3114.htm#REFRN23396

But as Connor said you'll need to check with your account rep for what actually have licenses for.
