Not really a technically question. Just wanted to know, where have you been.
There was no activity on asktom for some months now.

and Tom said...

After 14 years on asktom and 20 years total (usenet news groups last century) answering tens of thousands of questions, I took a break from social media stuff.

I spent most all of my time traveling and doing seminars, education sessions, q&a sessions, presentations and customer one on ones. I've flown more than 100 times, I was just in your country a few weeks ago at the AIOUG SANGAM conference. I've spent more than 50% of my nights in a hotel...

just needed some down time for me :)

but I'm back...

Hi Tom,

Nice to hear that you are back again. You do lots of seminars, Do you consolidate your public lectures? can we download videos of your seminars presentations etc from any where? If we can do this it would be very informative for us. And a great help to Oracle users.

Thanks
Fahd.

Wish you had a Data guard option.
Next time at least RMAN-> Duplicate Database and clone yourself :-)
Just kidding though. Hope you had a great down time.
I have learnt a lot from your site. Every time I visit your blog, I learn something new.

Welcome back Tom. I've been following you since 2003, and was worried you retired or maybe jumped ship to a NoSQL company. :)

Welcome Back!!!

Tom,

Thank you for all your great help to me in the past and your scientific approach to Oracle/Computer problem solving.

You have been a breath of fresh air - and a source of sanity - in a technical discipline often riddled with shallow and sloppy thinking.
(Ha, on the other hand, sometimes those people can somehow get the work done on time and make the boss happy :)

But anyway, humanly speaking, I believe I owe much of my career to your technical/philosophical influence and help.

All the best to you, Sir.

Thanks,

Robert.
